Woodrow Emery,
Jr.
January 17, 1945 – February 4, 2019
Woodrow "Woody" Emery, Jr., 74, of Union City passed away 6:05 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Union City. Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Emery, Jay Cooley, Jackie Grimes, Bobby "Wormy" Davidson, Dale Pate, Michael Archie, Steve Edwards and Michael Jordan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Wallace, Jimmy Petty, Jerry Moeller, Jack King, Clyde Bunch, Butch Hogg, Frankie Cheatham and employees of the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Woody was born January 17, 1945, in Union City, son of the late Woodrow Emery, Sr. and the late Helen (Gibson) Emery. He married Kim (Coultas) Emery April 9, 2007. She survives. He was a former employee of the Obion County Sheriff's Department, and the Troy Police Department. Woody was employed as a superintendent with the Tennessee Department of Transportation at the time of his death where he had been employed for thirty years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a former member of the Union City Lions Club, a former member of the Obion County Rescue Squad and was a Mason. Woody had served on the Obion County Fair Association where he had served as president, was a former youth baseball coach and had coached Upward basketball at Calvary Baptist.
He is also survived by one daughter, Jaynne Fowler of Union City; two sons, Mike Emery and Jody Emery both of Union City; one step daughter, Rena Grimes (Jackie) of Obion; two step sons, Kevin Pollock and Caleb Pollock (Angel) all of Union City; two sisters, Patsy Emery and Linda Coker (Bill) all of Union City; seventeen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
