Mr. Willie Charles Davis, 66, of Hornbeak died 10:30 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2011, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in Elbridge Cemetery .
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be David Gooch, James Walker, Jimmy Brown, Jeff Davis, Brad Davis and Stevie Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Boane, Leslie Hamm, Hershel Runions, Chris Tidwell and Tommy Jerden.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Second Baptist Church, 831 North Everett Blvd., Union City, Tennessee 38261 , Hometown Walk of Hope, P.O. Box 482, Union City, Tennessee 38281 or the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Davis was born September 5, 1945, in Obion County, son of the late Paul and Mary Ruth (Erwin) Davis. He married the former Linda May Minnick on August 15, 1964. She survives. He retired in 2001 after 32 years of service with the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1981 at Antioch Baptist Church in Hornbeak where he taught Sunday School for several years. He later served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School for several years at Faithway Baptist Church in Troy.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Shea Riley III of Union City; his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Michelle Davis of Troy; four grandchildren and the spouse of one, Jessica Davis of Troy, Sarah Riley and Will Shea Riley both of Union City, and Whiteny (Davis) and Kevin Bennett of Troy; two brothers, Virgil Davis and Alfred Davis both of Hornbeak; and two sisters, Mary Ann Hailey of Hornbeak and Bonnie Veasey of Covington.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Gooch.
