Obituary

Henry Wayne Kimble, 90, of Union City passed away 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Justin Hiens will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kimble, Mike Moseley, Chris Moseley, Whit Stiles, Daniel Nunnelee, David Nunnelee, Craig Petersohn and David Woodruff.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Wayne was born May 30, 1932 to John Henry Kimble and Altie Oceal (Austin) Kimble on a farm in Houston, Mississippi. As one of eleven children, Wayne's passion for hard work began at a very early age. At 18, he joined the National Guard for a short period of time during the Korean Conflict. At 20, he was employed by Goodyear Tire in Gadsden, Alabama. In 1963, he worked in Freeport, Illinois to assist the starting of a new Kelly Springfield passenger tire plant and later transferred to Conshohocken, Pennsylvania where he spend 2 1/2 years with Lee Rubber and Tire Company. With his family, he relocated back to Gadsden in 1967 and later transferred to Union City to assist the starting of the vast Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Wayne loved to hunt and fish. He walked the canal bottoms and coon hunted with a coal oil lantern and was one happy camper when he saw his first carbide headlamp. Wayne loved to hunt deer, ducks, and wild turkey. Later in life, he  published a book on Hunting the Eastern Wild Turkey.

Wayne married Ellen Jane Stephens of Gadsden, Alabama on April 10, 1953 and loved her immensely. She passed away with breast cancer on August 27, 2011. Wayne married Phyllis Salbeda of Covina, California, whose husband passed away three years earlier of heart problems. They married on October 5, 2013. The adored, respected, and supported each other dearly. Wayne and Ellen attended First Baptist Church in Union City and later joined Second Baptist Church where he and Phyllis were members until his passing.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife Ellen Stephens Kimble, his daughter, Stephanie Kimble Moseley, as well as siblings, Robert Charles Kimble, Frances Lotus Kimble, James B. Kimble, Myrtice Virginia Kimble, Martha Jaynell Kimble, Paul Edward Kimble and Bobbie Dean Kimble.

Wayne is survived by his son, Michael Wayne Kimble (Yvonne), his daughter, Libby Kimble Nunnelee, his son-in-law, Mike Moseley, his step daughter, Tina Christensen (Dan), his step son, Eric Salbeda (Anna), his sisters, Linda White Germano and Elaine Keelen; his brother, John Allen Kimble; his grandchildren, Chris Moseley (Emily), Sarah Moseley Stiles (Whit), Lydia Kimble Craft (Joe), Kelsey Kimble Byrne (Sean), Kassie Kimble, Alyx Nunnelee Gifford (Chase), David Nunnelee (Nicole), Daniel Nunnelee, Carissa Christensen, Aiden Christensen (Megan), Zoe Christensen, Malina Christensen, Kade Salbeda and Ian Salbeda; and his great grandchildren, Noah Moseley, Owen Moseley, Ezra Moseley, Ellie Moseley, Oliver Stiles, August Stiles, Penelope Stiles, Hailey Craft, Shawn Craft, Andrew Craft, Daphne Craft, Kevin Craft, and Charlotte Gifford.

Wayne will be remembered for his witty one liners, stories about growing up on the farm, his faith in God and his love for his country. Until his death, he could be found walking in the neighborhood, going to church, tromping around in the woods, and mowing his own yard.
