Obituary

Mr. Waymon Wallace,75, of Union City died 11:17 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Mike McDaniel and Bill Denman will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Mr. Wallace was born June 3, 1935, in Obion County, son of the late Milus Herbert and Ethel Mae (Gantlett) Wallace. He married Laverne (Burress) Wallace December 6, 1963. She survives.

Mr. Wallace worked for Salant & Salant in Union City and Superior Fireplace. He is a member of Fremont Church of Christ and a former member of Lakeview Church of Christ in Samburg. Mr. Wallace was an avid fisherman, former board of director of the Reelfoot Youth Camp, completed the Union City Citizens Police Academy, attended the Obion County Senior Center for many years where he helped with the shuffleboard competition. He also played for the Kentucky Bend Bashers and Tiptonville baseball teams. Mr. Wallace graduated in 1954 from Hornbeak High School.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Avella Bruce of Union City and Ina Mai Snead of Fulton, Ky.; three sister-n-laws, Virginia Wallace of Camden, Ruth Wallace of Dyersburg and Carolin Wallace of Hornbeak; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence, Paul, Riley, Raymond and Namon Wallace and one sister, Irene Williams.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson and his nephews.
