Mrs. Wanda Carney, 72, of Union City died 8:30 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery . Brother Wayne McLean and Brother Danny Jones will officiate.

Mrs. Carney was born August 5, 1937, in Mason Hall, daughter of the late Ed and Zola (Tanner) Pierce. She married Fred Carney on November 22, 1963. He survives. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and had been employed at the former American Metal, the former Falkoff's and Corner Bar-B-Q.

She is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Calvin Cary of Union City; two grandchildren, Brandy Eakes of Union City and Dusty Ward of Paducah, Kentucky; two step grandsons, Travis Cary of Winter Park, Florida and Trent Cary of Union City; four great grandchildren, Jordan Ward, Tanner Cary and Tatum Cary all of Union City and Breonna Ward of Martin.

She was preceded in death by her son, Sherman Carney; her sister, Delores "Sis" Shelton; and her brother, Talmadge Pierce.

The family will receive friends in the Rosewood Room at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers to serve will be Dusty Ward, Jason Eakes, Trent Cary, Ed Shelton, Darrell Jones and Jordan Ward.

Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Chris Shelton, Tanner Cary and Dale Jones.
