Mr. Alvin Waco Smith,73, of Union City died 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at his residence.

Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Trey Smith, Daniel Smith, Dudley Schleifer, Randy Connell and Ronnie Miller.

Mr. Smith was born June 30, 1938, in Gibson County, son of the late Alvin Isom and Maude (Beasley) Smith. He married Rebecca "Becky" Sutton on August 4, 1957. She survives. He worked for Union City School System and the former Reelfoot Packing Company and was a Baptist.

He is also survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Tim and Sandra Smith of Union City and Alvin and Tina Smith of Rising City, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Amy Schleifer of Yorkville, Michael Smith of Union City, Kim Duke of Lincoln, Nebraska, Trey Smith of Norfolk, Nebraska and Daniel Smith of Rising City, Nebraska; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
