Mrs. Virginia Mae Via, 83, of Union City died 12:15 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Salem Cemetery in Fulgham, Kentucky. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Via was born December 19, 1927, in Moscow, Kentucky, daughter of the late Glen Owen and Virginia Gertrude (Rogers) Roach. She married Charles B. Via on April 17, 1952. He died June 11, 1966. She had been a night auditor at the former Holiday Inn in Fulton, Kentucky for 20 years and was also employed at Corner Bar-B-Q in Union City. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Ronnie Tidwell of Rives; her son, Charles Via of Union City; and her granddaughter, Dr. Angelina Tidwell of Rives.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwenda Lynn Via; three sisters, Helen Morfield, Glenda Bowman and Patsy DeVore; and four brothers, James Owen Roach, Leroy Roach, Benny Roach and Billy Roach.
