Virgil Allen's Obituary
Mr. Virgil Lee Allen Sr., 66, of Troy, formerly of Samburg, died 3: 55 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union City.
There will be no services. Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Mr. Allen was born October 3, 1942, in Obion County, son of the late Oscar Allen and the late Mary Gladys (Williams) Mayfield. He had been employed at Reelfoot Lumber Company and Storey Sawmill.
He is also survived by one son, Gary Allen of Hornbeak; four grandchildren, John Michael Whitehead of Samburg, Eric Wayne Allen and Stanley Allen both of Newbern and Deborah Michelle Lee Ann Allen of Hornbeak; and his great-grandson, Cody Whitehead of Samburg.
He was preceded in death by his son, Virgil Lee "Peanut" Allen Jr.; his daughter, Rhonda Whitehead; and his grandson, Justin Whitehead.
