Mrs. Virgie Mae Shields, 91, of Union City passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at The Waters of Union City.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Entombment will follow. Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Virgie was born October 8, 1933, in Weakley County, daughter of the late John Taft and Ethel Mae (Nash) Elam. She married Charlie "Shorty" Shields August 15, 1949. He preceded her in death January 13, 2003. Virgie was a retired beautician and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City.

She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Rhoades and husband Kenneth of Union City and Debbie Matheny and husband Lonnie of Troy; one son, Larry Shields and wife Nancy of Bartlett; one brother, Johnny Elam of Dickson; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
