Mr. Vernon Hardy Adair, 69, of Union City passed away 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Union City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Justin Hiens will officiate. Entombment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hopper, Tyler Hopper, Donald Wayne Mudd, Tony Walker, Brother Kerry Shopher and David Cunningham.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Sunday School Class and CNA Risk Management Group in Louisville, Kentucky.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 831 N. Everett Blvd., Union City, Tennessee 38261.
Mr. Adair was born October 28, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late Hardy and Leita (Johnson) Adair. He married Pamela (Walker) Adair December 16, 1995. She survives. Vernon was a graduate of Southern High School in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. He had been employed as a safety professional for CNA Insurance for 21 years and Fireman's Fund Insurance for 15 years. He had been a master instructor for the National Utility Contractors Association and was named as one of the top ten master instructors for the Occupational Safety and Health Association. Vernon was a member of the American Society of Engineers for 25 years and served as president of the Louisville, Kentucky chapter from 1990 to 1992. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City and the Faith Sunday School Class.
He is also survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gina Adair of Lafayette, Indiana, Stephen Adair of Louisville, Kentucky. and Scott Wilkes of Union City; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Michael Hopper of Martin; three sisters and brother-in-law, France and Willie Laurie of Youngstown, Ohio, Elna Bolton of Louisville, Kentucky and Carolyn Burton of Kennesaw, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Tyler Hopper of Martin, Seth Wilkes of Union City and Madison Adair of Louisville, Kentucky.
