Mrs. Verdie Marie Scarborough, 78, of Union City died 5:45 a.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Ron Gray will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Trent Scarborough, Todd Phipps, Chris McCloud, Travis McCloud, Ben Presson, Devin Daniels and Ashton Chessor.
Mrs. Scarborough was born March 25, 1936, in McNairy County, daughter of the late Sherman and Nannie (Grissom) Tennyson. She had been employed in management at the former Kentucky Fried Chicken in Union City for 36 years. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of First Church of God in Union City.
She is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Georgianna Scarborough of Union City and David and Donna Scarborough of Atlanta, Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Mike Phipps of Woodland Mills, Debbie and Frank Moseley of Union City and Denise and Bo Chessor of Dresden; one sister, Betty Ray of Florence, Alabama; two brothers, Buck Tennyson and Charles Tennyson both of Florence, Alabama; twelve grandchildren, Toi Scarborough of Stuart, Florida, Trent Scarborough of Charleston, South Carolina, Delinda Goad of Martin, Todd Phipps, Chris McCloud, Travis McCloud and Delana Pruitt all of Union City, Kelly Adams of Memphis, Devin Daniels of Fulton, Kentucky, Ben Presson and Danielle Garland both of Rives and Ashton Chessor of Dresden; and twenty two great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one grandson, David Scarborough, Jr.; and one brother, Everett Tennyson.
