Hazlewood
March 16, 1948 – November 20, 2021
Van Frank Hazlewood, 73, of Martin, TN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
Van was born March 16, 1948, in Martin, the son of the late George Frank and Mary Victoria (Holt) Hazlewood. He married Brenda (Cook) Hazlewood July 20, 1969. She survives. He retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 31 years of service. Van was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City where he had served as a deacon and was a member of Mike Larkins Sunday School class. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed baseball and softball. Van served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1971.
He is also survived by two daughters, Staci Fuqua and husband Phillip and Brandi Hopper and husband Tim all of Martin; one son, Jody Hazlewood and wife Kristi of Martin; nine grandchildren, Abbie McClure and husband Dustin, Dusty Fuqua and wife, Mercedes, Bennett Fuqua, Bretton Hazlewood, Jordan "Wormy" Hazlewood and wife Karla, Anna Hazlewood, Jackson Hopper, Mattie Hopper, and Corbitt Hopper all of Martin; four great grandchildren, Warren McClure, Falynn McClure, Georgia McClure, and Asher Hazlewood all of Martin; one brother, Matt Hazlewood and wife, Barbara, of Sidonia; and two sisters, Elwanda Jones and husband, Donnie, and Diane Blake and husband, Steve, all of Martin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronnie Hazlewood, Glynn Hazlewood, and David Hazlewood.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church in Union City. Pastor Justin Hiens will officiate. Burial will follow in Cates Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Second Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Fuqua, Bennett Fuqua, Bretton Hazlewood, Jordan Hazlewood, Jackson Hopper, Corbitt Hopper, Matthew Hazlewood, and Madison Hazlewood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Fuqua, Tim Hopper, Dustin McClure and Van's lifelong military friends Townsend "Toby" Hoopes, III, John Pilkington, and Dave Reznicek.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Second Baptist Church or 10/40 Connection, 831 North Everett Blvd, Union City, Tennessee 38261.
