September 13, 1948 – February 21, 2022
Herman Van Buren Cole, Jr., 73, of the Walnut Log community passed away 1:07 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Charles Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Craddock, Austin Goodman, Lee Hayes, Wade Hayes, Gary Haynes, Tony Marvin and Thomas Watts.
Honorary pallbearer will be Van's lifelong friend Dale Treece.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Walnut Log Baptist Church Youth, 4836 Walnut Log Road, Union City, Tennessee 38261.
Van was born September 13, 1948, in Obion County, son of the late Herman Van Buren Cole, Sr. and the late Lovie (James) Cole. He was the owner of Cole Farms and co owner of Cole & Powers Timber Company. Van was a member of Walnut Log Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Shayanne Cole of Reelfoot Lake; one daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Matt Hayes of Paris; five grandchildren, Gracie Cole and Brylie Jo Cole both of Reelfoot Lake and Lee Hayes, Wade Hayes and Genevieve Hayes all of Paris; his aunt, Mozelle Flippen of Union City; and numerous cousins.
