Mr. Tommy Jerden, 69, of Hornbeak died 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Robert Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Hodge, Jamin Barker, Dewayne Deal, Scott Webb, Mike Hamm, Dewayne Wilson and Steve Elam.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Rhodes, John Epperson, Paul Stafford, Leroy Keith, Bobby Staggs, Benny McGuire and Don Gwaltney.
Mr. Jerden was born May 10, 1944, in Hornbeak, son of the late Joe Frank and Grace Helen (Alexander) Jerden. He married Judy Bell Jerden Jan. 31, 1969. She died February 24, 2007. He had been the owner and operator of the former Jerden Well and Water and was operator of the Hornbeak Water Utility District. Mr. Jerden was a former longtime Hornbeak alderman who always took great pride in the town of Hornbeak. He currently served on the Antioch Cemetery Association where he served as president and was a member of Tiptonville Masonic Lodge 184. He was an avid fisherman and was a Christian.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Les Carlson of Marietta, Georgia; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Linda Jernigan, Shirley and Lesley Hamm, Marguerite Wilson, Beverly Coston and Marscella Erwin all of Hornbeak; two brothers and one sister-in-law,Joe and Debi Jerden and David Jerden all of Hornbeak. The most important thing is his life was being Papa to Hayes and Holt.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Opal Kirby.
