Thomas Johnson, 82, of Samburg passed away 7:32 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Charles Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.
Pallbearers will be Jacob McBride, T.C. Makin, Olin Johnson, George Edwards, Carl Roger Jones and Chad Hamilton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Short and Ben Wilkins.
Thomas was born January 27, 1941, in Lake County, son of the late James R. "Jim" and Minnie Lou (Price) Johnson. He married Pat (Rikard) Johnson January 5, 1963. She survives. Thomas retired from the former Reelfoot Lumber Company as a salesman after 47 years of service. He had been a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge 184 in Tiptonville for 55 years and was a member of the Scottish Rite and was a Shriner. Thomas was a pilot who enjoyed flying and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat Johnson of Samburg; his little four legged buddy, Tito; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dana and Joe McBride of Hornbeak and Courtney Makin of Tiptonville; one son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Christy Johnson of Samburg; eight grandchildren, Mallory Berry (Cliff) of Tiptonville, Jacob McBride (Kelsey) of Hornbeak, T.C. Makin (Carson) of Union City, Katie Beth Makin of Tiptonville, Jeremy Makin (Michelle) of Telford, Tennessee, Christopher Makin (Valerie) of Union City and Emma Johnson and Olin Johnson both of Samburg; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Weaks, Helen Kinnick and Faye Burkeen; and three brothers, Prentiss Johnson, Leaton Johnson and Bobby Johnson.
