Obituary

Thelma Wilson, 87, of Union City, died on October 19, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. She was a retired educator and homemaker.

She was born February 20, 1929 in Tiptonville to the late Gus Crafton and Kate Covey Crafton. She married James W. "Bill" Wilson of Walnut Log on August 12, 1962. He died on May 3, 2016.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, serving as a Sunday school teacher and known for her beautiful voice as a congregational singer. She attended David Lipscomb College. "Miss Thelma", as she was known by her students, taught early elementary grades for several years during the 1950s and 1960s at Margaret Newton Elementary School in Tiptonville.

Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 21 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in Eastview Cemetery with Dr. Glen Burse officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bentley Beard, Mark Phipps, Johnny Bacon, Jim Towater, Allen Nohsey, Roland Pope and Wendol Thorpe. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyle Lankford, Regina Mullins and Julie Parker.

She is survived by her son, James W. Wilson, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee.
