Obituary

Mrs. Thelma (Galloway) Broadley, 91, of Union City passed away 1:40 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Hebbardsville, Kentucky.

There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Second Baptist Church Bag Lady Ministry or Music Ministry, 831 N. Everett Blvd., Union City, Tennessee 38261.

Mrs. Broadley was born April 3, 1927, in Henderson County, Kentucky, daughter of late Andrew and Christine (Newman) Galloway. She married Claude Broadley April 3, 1948. He preceded her in death January 3, 1991. Mrs. Broadley was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Lynette Galloway. Thelma had been the owner and operator of The Kentuckian Restaurant in Henderson, Kentucky. She then had served as the manager of the dining room at the Executive Inn in Evansville, Indiana and the Executive Inn in Owensboro, Kentucky. Mrs. Broadley had owned The Hat Shop in Henderson. She was known as the Hat Lady for all of the crocheted hats she made thru the years that were given to patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, nursing home patients and sent on mission trips. She had been a resident at the Union City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where her friends at staff took great care of her. Mrs. Broadley was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.

She is survived by two daughters, Katrine T. Karley of Sarasota, Florida and Cathy (David) VanHooser of Union City; one son, Larry (Patsy) Broadley of Morris, Alabama; six grandchildren, Christa (Daniel) Taylor and Travis (Christina) VanHooser all of Union City, Cory (Angela) Broadley of Gardendale, Alabama, Paul (Kristy) Broadley of Kimberly, Alabama, Brandon Broadley of Birmingham, Alabama and Carla (Ray) Harding of Sarasota, Florida; and eleven great grandchildren.
