Obituary

Mr. Talmadge Gaylon "Slim" Hawkins, 71, of Samburg, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Irwin Chapel (Maryville Road location) in Granite City, Il. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Mr. Hawkins was born March 10, 1938 in Samburg, Tn., son of the late Herman Dalton and Edith (Mabel) Haskins. He married May Delores "Dee" Hawkins on May 19, 1956. She died Oct. 8, 1996. He was a Master SGT in the United States Air Force for over 20 years.

He is survived by two sons, Talmage G. Hawkins, Jr. of Granite City, Il. and William Eugene Hawkins of Samburg, two daughters, Joyce Keller and Daphne Adele Chandler of Granite City, Il., five grandchildren, Aaron and Lauren Hawkins, Jason Keller, Diane and Michelle Chandler, one great grandchild, Taylor Keller

The family will receive friends at Irwin Chapel (Maryville Road location)from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
