Mrs. Sue Sweeney, 74, of Union City passed away 1:10 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at her home.
A celebration of life service will take place on Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Private family burial will take place in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Sue was born January 18, 1943, in Obion County, daughter of the late Robert and Lucille Jones. She married Larry Sweeney June 19, 2003. He survives. She was the owner of the former Sue's Bar and Grill in Union City. She was a real estate agent for 28 years and was a member of Arizona and Missouri State Realators Association. Mrs. Sue also served as vice president for the local (AFL-CIO) American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations for many years. She dedicated herself to public service through managing bars, restaurants, motels and selling real estate.
She is also survived by one stepdaughter, Scherry Sweeney of Austin, Tx.; one stepson, Michael (Cassi) Sweeney of Austin, Tx.; three sisters, Joyce (Bobby) Brown of Union City, Shirley Glover of Sharon and Glenda Meegan of Union City, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Junior Jones, Sam Jones, Bobby Jones and Raymond Jones.
