Sue Mitchell Barnes, 83, of the Crystal community passed away 1:00 a.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Bro. Dale True and Rev. Mitch Boulton will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery in the Crystal community.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Barnes, Rance Hooper, Rick Yates, Joel McKinnis, Taylor Nicodemus, John Bumpious, Mark Baker, Randy Mitchell and Rex Criswell.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Roger Coleman Sunday School Class at Antioch Union Church.
Mrs. Barnes was born March 22, 1935, in Clayton, Indiana, daughter of the late Richard A. and Geneva (Kendall) Mitchell. She married Robert M. Barnes November 22, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2009. Mrs. Barnes retired from the former Salant & Salant, was a homemaker and a partner in farming with her husband. She was a member of Antioch Union Church in the Crystal community where she was an elder and served on the Patient and Family Advisory Committee at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Jean and Glenn Patterson of the Crystal community; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lynn and Kay Barnes and Kenneth and Sharon Barnes all of the Crystal community; two sisters, Martha Bumpious of Anniston, Alabama and Barbara Baker of Plainfield, Indiana; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sue Mitchell of Union City; her sister-in-law, Thelma Calhoun of the Crystal community; seven grandchildren, Keisha (Rance) Hooper, Kenthia (Joel) McKinnis and Jeremy Barnes all of the Crystal community, Kayla (Rick) Yates, Kara (Taylor) Nicodemus all of Union City, Glennese Patterson of Henderson, Kentucky and Kelsey Barnes of Washington, D.C.; and eight great grandchildren, Alexus Hooper, Harrison Hooper Kreigh McKinnis and Kenley McKinnis all of the Crystal community and Keaton Yates, Karter Yates, Holton Nicodemus and Hudson Nicodemus all of Union City.
She was preceded in death by one son, Danny Mitchell Barnes; her brother, Richard "Bud" Mitchell; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Cranford and Iris Taylor; and five brothers-in-law, Doyle Bumpious, Bill Baker, Norval Cranford, Harold Taylor and Bruce Calhoun.
