Stephen Russell "Steve" "Salty" Morton, 65, of Puryear went home to be with the Lord at 1:57 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Gary Haynes will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Family members will serve as pallbearers
Steve was born February 28, 1952, in Memphis, son of Jo (Beard) Morton of Murray, Kentucky and the late Allen Russell Morton. Steve had been employed as a carpenter. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, building cabinets and was a animal lover.
He is also survived by two daughters, Angie (James) Turnbow of Highland, Michigan and Melissa Carter of Crossville; one son, Clinton (Shannon) Morton of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; three sisters, Sharon (Charles) Owens of Puryear, Debbie (Andy) Anderson of Zavalla, Texas and Libby Morton of Dickinson, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Cassidy Morton, Christopher Morton, Joseph Morton, Jeffery Morton, Joseph Carter, Zander Carter, Guy (Danyelle) Griffith, Quentin Griffith, Darin Griffith, Logan Griffith and Colby Turnbow; and one great granddaughter, Adeline Griffith.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Monica Darlene Morton; and two brothers, Eric Alan Morton and Michael Joe Morton.
