Obituary

Mr. Sidney "Smitty" Marcus Goldsmith, 83, of Union City, died 7:50 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Obion County Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hornbeak City Cemtery. Brother Chris Gouger will officiate.

Mr. Goldsmith was born November 6, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Union City Baptist Temple.

He is survived by three stepdaughters, Mae Holt and Jean Love both of Union City and Phyllis Remy of Salem, Oregon; five stepsons, Bennie Brown of Dukedom, Mike Brown of Chattanooga, Randy Brown of Union City, Leonard Franklin of Miami, Florida and James Franklin of Warrenton, Missouri; his former brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hillman and Lorene Moore of Lovelaceville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Mr. Goldsmith was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Thelma Ward Brown Goldsmith.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers to serve will be family and friends.
