Mr. Sherrill Davis Barker, 77, of Tiptonville passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Sherrill was born July 20, 1948 in Tiptonville. He was the son of the late Lyman and Marguerite (Davis) Barker. He married Sue (Donnell) Barker on June 24, 1977. He was the assistant principal at Lake Road Elementary School where he also coached football and basketball for over 30 years. Sherrill was a member of Jones Chapel Church of Christ in Tiptonville and also attended Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City. In his spare time he loved to fish and duck hunt on Reelfoot Lake.

He is also survived by three daughters, T.J. (Ben) Grear of Memphis, Laina (Patrick) Bowen of Cookeville and Connie (Russ) Fowler of Cookeville; and seven grandchildren, Huxley Grear, Harrison Grear, Miles Grear, Davis Bowen, Beck Bowen, Jack Fowler and Burns Fowler.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Jay Barker; and his brother, Shelby Barker.

A private memorial service will be held.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
