Sandra Tanner 1937-2010
Mrs. Sandra Marie Tanner, 73, of Union City died 8:35 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the Obion County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Gary Doughten, Brother James Kinsey and Brother Martin Severns will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Mrs. Tanner was born May 30, 1937, in Muskegon, Michigan, daughter of the late Harold Ray and Marie (Dusseljee) Springstead. She married James Robert "Bob" Tanner on May 30, 1952. He survives. Mrs. Tanner had been employed at the former Salant & Salant in Union City for 21 years and retired from Murray State University as food supervisor after 16 1/2 years of service. She had catered weddings for many years and was a member of Sunswept Baptist Church in Union City and a former member of Memorial Baptist Church in Murray, Kentucky.
She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Terry Wright of Union City; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Teresa Tanner of Union City; her brother, James Harold Springstead of Baldwin, Michigan; two grandchildren, Bobby Doughten and Dawn Younger both of Union City; her step-grandson, Josh Mullins of Union City; and her great-granddaugher, Mallorie Ruddle of Union City.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Tanner and her brother, Daniel Springstead.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Terry Wright, Bobby Doughten, Joe David Anderson, Dale Raymer, Harry Sublett and Larry Hitesman.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Brittain, Vince Farist, Judy Farist, Kenneth Barnes, Lynn Barnes and Myrtle Mohundro.
