Mrs. Sammie Damons, 85, of South Fulton passed away 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Dale True will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Dukedom.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Justin Damons, Josh Damons, Matthew Damons, Thomas Wilson, Bubba Adams and Patrick Grooms.
Sammie was born September 23, 1935, in Toone, Tennessee, daughter of the late Jack Mills and the late Clara (Young) Mills Ratiu. She married W.C. Damons September 30, 1951. He preceded her in death September 1, 2001. Sammie was a member of Riceville Baptist Church and was recognized as a gold star mother at the death of her son, Victor Damons, PFC, who died while serving in the United States Army. Sammie was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Damons; and her son-in-law, Denny Adams. She retired from the dietary department at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
She is survived by one daughter, Stacie Adams of Murray, Kentucky; three sons, Michael G. Damons of South Fulton, Joe Damons (Joanna) of Dickson and Randy Damons (fiance' Julie Jackson) of Mayfield, Kentucky; one brother, Jerry Mills (Grace) of Warren, Michigan; six grandchildren, Josh Damons (Heather) of Ripley; Matthew Damons of Jackson, Mississippi, Kayla Damons of Nashville, Justin Damons of Dresden, Lauren Lockhart of Lynnville, Kentucky and Stephanie Adams of McKenzie; and five great grandchildren, Jessie Grooms of Lynnville, Kentucky, Kaiden Damons of Dresden, Noah Damons and Savannah Damons both of Ripley and River Wilson of McKenzie.
