Mr. Ronald Gene Downing, 57, of Union City passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Lonnie Truelove and Brother David Hagan will officiate with burial to follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Doug Glisson, Chad Courtney, Connor Downing, David Crum, Blake Cheatham and Coleman Cheatham.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Hometown Walk of Hope or Calvary Baptist Church.

Ronald was born December 7, 1968, in Union City, son of Daniel Lee and Norma Jean (Cheatham) Downing of Union City. He was a self-employed carpenter and member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.

He is also survived by two sisters, Linda (Doug) Glisson and Barbara (Chad) Courtney all of Union City; two brothers, Richard Downing of Union City and Michael (Marian) Downing of Paducah, Kentucky; two nieces, Rachel O’Steen of Austin, Texas and Kari (Colin) Terry of Atoka; two nephews, Connor Downing of Paducah, Kentucky and Caleb Courtney of Union City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
