Mr. Robert Melvin Cook, 88, of Glennville, Georgia died Monday, November 22, 2010, at his home.
He was a former resident of Obion County.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Ed Eubanks will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cook was born March 13, 1922, in Baldwyn, Mississippi, son of the late John Henderson and Mattie Lou (Blasingame) Cook. He was a World War II United States Army veteran and retired from FMC Corporation as a welder. Robert was a ordained minister and a member of Ludowici Church of God.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Watson of Glennville, Georgia; four sons, Dan (Margaret) Willis of Palmersville, Tennessee, Reggie Cook of Manchester, Tennessee, Talmadge Cook of Glennville, Georgia and Lamar (Melissa) Cook of Hinesville, Georgia; his sister, Easter Owens of Union City; two brothers, Ernest Cook of Dresden and Johnnie Cook of Union City; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Victoria Cook and his daughter, Stella Kirk Carpenter.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Danny Peters, Ricky Peters, Gary Peters, Lanny Peters, Trent Peters and Keith Cook.
