James Richard "Richie" Thomas, 43 of Union City passed away 11:28 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Stephen Sutton will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Seals, Eric Garrigan, Kyle Ross, Matt Dunn, Corey Cox, Allen Lane and Dewayne Richards.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the West Tennessee Racers baseball team.

Richie was born June 30, 1977, in Dyersburg, son of Russ and Frankie (Thurman) Thomas of Union City. He had been employed at A & J Salvage as a steel buyer. Richie was a coach for the West Tennessee Racers baseball team, a coach for the Union City Junior Tornado Football team and several other baseball teams thru the years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He is also survived by his three children, Danielle Thomas, Ashlyn Thomas and Tanner Thomas all of Union City; one sister and brother-in-law, Shelley and Jason Krueger of Evansville, Indiana; his brother, Justin Thomas of Union City; his grandparents, Allean Thurman and J.C. "Pee Wee" and Marilyn Thomas all of Union City; his aunt and uncle, Anita and Bill Beeler of Union City; and his nieces and nephews, Kaeden Radde, Raegen Radde and Kendall Radde all of Evansville, Indiana and Haley Thomas and Zach Thomas both of Union City.

He was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Doyle Thurman; and his aunt, Jan Thomas Parker.
