Mr. William Richard Vaughn, 81, of Paris passed away 3:25 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was a former resident of Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Mitch Fiscus will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Derral Vaughn, Herlon Smith, James Trevathan, Dr. Jeremiah Judkins, Tom Cole, Whitney Cole and Cobey Raines.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Vaughn's nephews and grandsons.
Mr. Vaughn was born February 14, 1936, in Henry County, son of the late William Walker and Nina Elizabeth (Taylor) Vaughn. He married the love of his life Dorothy Jean (Elam) Vaughn November 22, 1978. She preceded him in death August 10, 2016. Mr. Vaughn was retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City. He was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Paris and a former longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.
He is survived by three sisters, Ruth Cannon of Mayfield, Kentucky, LaRue Trevathan of Paducah, Kentucky and Helen White of Paris; two brothers, Bobby Vaughn of Paris and Kenneth Vaughn of Dresden; three stepdaughters, Suzie Armstrong of Nashville and Jeannie Beth Cole and Mary Cathryn Benefiel both of Frisco, Texas; one stepson, Tom Cole of Memphis, Indiana; eight step grandchildren; seventeen step great grandchildren; and one step great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.
