Obituary

Mr. Richard Monroe Summers, Sr., 72, of Union City passed away 11:59 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Tim McClain and Johnny Tate will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanleys Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Critchlow and David Critchlow.

Mr. Summers was born May 2, 1947, in Weakley County, son of the late Gilbert Monroe and Willie Lee (Tabor) Summers. He married Devenda (Green) Summers February 25, 1966. She survives. He worked for Brown Shoe Company for many years and retired from the City of Union City Waste Water Treatment Plant.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He is also survived by one son, Ricky Summers (Hayley) of Union City; one daughter, Cindy Readenour (Nathan) of Union City; five grandsons, Steven Pollard (Holly) of Newbern, Trey Summers of Union City, Josh Clark of Dyer, Jackson Summers of Union City and Zak Summers of Union City; one brother, Danny Summers of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Burress and W.T. Burress.
