Richard Dean Bookout, 87, of Union City passed away 6:30 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Shane Long will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Bill Long, Tim Long, David Long, Drake Beard and Brandon Hutcheson.

Richard was born December 16, 1936, in Gleason, son of the late Hussell and Virginia Ruth (White) Bookout. He married Janice (Long) Bookout November 20, 1982. Richard retired as a environmentalist with the Obion County Health Department after 44 years of service. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard and was a member of Healing Faith Family Worship Center in Union City.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Janice Bookout of Union City; his stepson, Gary Foster and wife Rachel of Temescal, California; three step grandchildren, Elijah Foster, Joshua Foster and Selah Foster all of Temescal, California; two sisters, Joan Blaylock of McKenzie and Janice Hall and husband Ronnie of Cookeville; two brothers, Terry Bookout and wife Janie of Hendersonville and Charles Bookout of Gleason; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his step daughter, Diane Foster; and one sister, Cheri Franscisco.
