Mr. Walter Ray Phillips, 84, of Union City passed away 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022, at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday at Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Brother Shawn White and Brother Nathaniel Horton will officiate.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at service time Monday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Ray was born February 7, 1938, in Du Quoin, Illinois, son of the late Roy and Ruby (Rice) Phillips.  He married Dorothy May (Seaman) Phillips December 21, 1975.  She passed away March 29, 2022.  He worked as a truck driver and maintenance for Allen Rogers and worked maintenance for the former First United Methodist Church in Union City.  Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Foor, Sue Phillips and Angela Jessie all of Shelbyville, Illinois and Kelly Jones (Shane) of Union City; one step daughter, Rhonda Merritt (Mark) of Union City; one step son, Darrell Seaman of Peoria, Illinois; his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Phillips of Troy: ten grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sherri Phillips; one step son, Dale Seaman; his brother, David Phillips; six other brothers and sisters.
