Randall Pope's Obituary
Mr. Randall D. "R.D." Pope, 74, of Union City passed away 8:18 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2018, at Regional One Health in Memphis.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Billy Lynch will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Buckner, Jerry Wiles, Ricky Myers, Danny McKinnie, Randy Parham and Tim Davis.
Mr. Pope was born July 4, 1943, in Lake Co., son of the late Harvey D. and Norma "Bunny" (Michael) Thurman. He worked for 30 years at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and was U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Gail and Paul Hunt of Union City and Linda Jean Pope of Knoxville; one stepson, James and Angela Melton of Sharon; one brother, Lucien Gene and Nettie Pope of Ridgely; five sisters, Charlotte and Ricky Myers of Il., Vicky Birdsong of MS., Cindy Pope of MS., Dee Thurman of MI. and Sheree and Tim Richards of MI.; one sister-in-law, Wanda Thurman of MI.; his fiancé, Jan Fuller Union City; eight grandchildren, Ashley Morris of South Fulton, Tina Hunt of Texas, Paula Hunt of Texas, Rachel Melton of Sharon, Rizpah Melton of Sharon, Noah Melton of Sharon, Jacob Melton of Sharon and Nathan Melton of Italy; two great grandchildren, Randy Parham of South Fulton and Rick Wilkey of Dresden and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Lillian McKelvy; three brothers, Mike Thurman, Joe Thurman and Wayne Pope; one stepson, Donnie Melton and one granddaughter, Alicia Thompson.
