Pritchett
September 27, 1944 – September 20, 2023
Rupert Martin "Pert" Pritchett of Union City went to be with Jesus on the morning of September 20th, 2023, at Baptist Hospital in Union City.
Pert was born to Rupert and Virgie Pritchett on September 27, 1944 in Weakley County. He lived in Gleason, TN until 1976 when he and his family moved to Union City. He worked at Goodyear Tire & Co. for 35 years. Pert served his country in the U.S. Army in 1967-1968, stationed in Vietnam. Pert was a Christian and member of Second Baptist Church. He had been a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Royal Ambassador leader. Pert is survived by his wife, Wanda, of 59 years. He is also survived by a son, Marty and his wife, Theresa, of Matthews, NC; a daughter, Penny, and her husband, Brad Myers, of Thompsons Station, TN; five grandchildren, Daniel Pritchett of Houston, TX, Ava Pritchett of Auburn, AL, Mary Bradley and Marxie Myers of Nashville, TN, and Brooke Myers of Thompsons Station, TN. He also leaves behind two brothers-in-law, Richard Hodges of Gleason, TN and Bill Hodges and his wife, Susan, of Lynn Haven, FL; three nephews and their families.
Pert was a humble and kind man who loved God, his family, and friends. He loved to talk to people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed working in the yard and relaxing on the back porch with a glass of sweet tea and his beloved dog, Mackey.
Visitation will be at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, September 22, 2023 and from 10:00am until the hour of services on Saturday. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00am at Second Baptist Church in Union City. Pastor Justin Hines will officiate. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason with military honors.
Pallbearers will be members of the Gleason High School Football Team of 1962, Brother Dean Doster, LeRoy Segraves, Ronnie Parks, Terry Bunnell, Curtis Mayo, and Paul Brundige.
Honorary Pallbearers will be George Kemp, Greg Wyatt, Billy Dowell, Ed Griffin, John Warner, and Mark Ward.
