Pedro Jaime Ortiz, 75, of Martin passed away 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home.

There will be no services. Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Pedro was born August 1, 1948, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico son of the late Pedro Ortiz-Cordero and Obdulia Aviles-Sanchez. He married Elizabeth (Reed) Ortiz June 2, 1984. Pedro served in the United States Army from January 1, 1969 to January 31, 1989 and retired as First Sergeant. He retired from Vowell & Sons in Martin and was known as an exceptional carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Elizabeth Ortiz of Martin; one sister, Minita Vasquez and husband Luis of Huntington Beach, California; and three brothers, William Ortiz and wife Maria of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Luis G. Ortiz of Milford, Pennsylvania and Dennis Ortiz and wife Flossie of Augusta, Georgia.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Pedrito Ortiz, Francis Ortiz and Angi Ortiz.
