Mr. Norval D. Cranford, 88, of Union City died 12:04 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett and Brother Chip Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Calhoun, Kenneth Barnes, Lynn Barnes, Thomas Taylor, Terry Taylor and David Hugh Keefe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Lake Road Baptist Church.
Mr. Cranford was born July 17, 1924, in Obion County, son of the late John B. and Ollie Frances (Lee) Cranford. He married Katherine (Barnes) Cranford December 14, 1945. She died September 1, 2000. He married Virginia (Jenkins) Stone Cranford June 16, 2007. She survives. Mr. Cranford served in the United States Army in World War II where he was a prisoner of war in Germany from December 7, 1944 until April 22, 1945. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the American ex-prisoners of war organization. He retired from General Motors Corporation Chevrolet Division in Livonia, Michigan after thirty two years of service. Mr. Cranford was a member of Lake Road Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
He is also survive by his son, Barry Cranford of Union City; his step daughter, Suzanne Keefe of Tiptonville; two step sons, Billy Stone of Eads and Rick Stone of Troy; his brother, Ilar Cranford of Gladwin, Michigan; his grandson, Eric Cranford of Northville, Michigan; his granddaughter, Karen Perky of Jasper, Michigan; and four great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Donnie Cranford; two sisters; and five brothers.
