Obituary

Mozelle (James) Flippen, 98, of Union City passed away 11:30 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Obion County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Street Church of Christ. Mark McBride, Guy Walker Gray and Stephen Sutton will officiate. Burial will follow in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Bishop Street Church of Christ from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Gray, Josh Gray, Clint Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Hayes Flippen, Joe Kendall and Hugh Adams.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mozelle was born September 14, 1925, in Obion County, daughter of the late W.L. and Sue Etta (Barton) James. She married Evan Flippen June 28, 1941. He preceded her in death August 23, 1998. Mozelle had been employed at the former Lucy's Shoe Box and had helped her husband with their fruit farm. She was a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Billy Flippen of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lovie Cole; and five brothers, Johnny James, Bryant James, Jack James, Raymond James and Leroy James.
