Mr. Monty Byars, 60, of Rives passed away on March 11, 2025. Monty was born on January 20, 1965, in McKenzie, Tennessee to Guy and Barbara Byars. He married Mary McEwen Smith of February 20, 1988.

He was a self-employed painter, who took pride in his work. Other than work, he loved hunting and raising his dogs. Most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his four sons, Robby Smith, Monty Byars (Addy), Kyle Byars (Katie Beth), and Kaleb (Caitlin); and three grandchildren, Greer, Harper, and Ellis. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara; two sisters, Lisa Horner (Jim) and Cindy Bynum; step-brother, Leonard Davis (Rhonda); sister-in-law, Judy Byars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Guy and Carrie Byars; two brothers, Paul Byars and Andrew Byars; one sister, Paula Counsell; and two step-brothers, Donnie Brock and Russell Brock.

Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Melvin Poe will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.
