Mr. Millard Henry Johnson, 82, of Union City died 5:05 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. Brother Chip Davis will officiate.

Mr. Johnson was born June 22, 1926,in Booneville, Mississippi, son of the late James Harold and Prebble Henry (Green) Johnson. He married the former Doris Petty November 8, 1947. She survives. He retired after 30 years of service with General Motors Corporation in Ypsilanti, Michigan. After moving to Union City he was a mechanic known to many as "The Transmission Man" and he also was a driver for Film Transit Company. He was a member of Lake Road Baptist Church and was a World War II United States Army veteran.

He is also survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra & Paul Riley and Tina Isbell all of Union City; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steve and Charlotte Johnson of South Fulton, Jody Johnson of Union City and Danny and Gail Johnson of Brighton, Michigan; three sisters, Virginia Robinson of Tiptonville, Mary Hailey of Union City and Nazaline Basham of Ridgely, one brother and sister-in-law, Leland and Sybil Johnson of Ypsilanti, Michigan; eleven grandchildren including Melissa Riley, Dustin Riley, Mallory Burton and Hillary Isbell all of Union City and Cody Johnson of South Fulton; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Riley, his granddaughter, Jessica Johnson, one brother and three sisters.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Pallbearers to serve will be Donnie Ragsdale, Paul Riley, Josh Burton, Bobby Fornwald, Mike Hutchens and Jim Petty.
