James Michael "Mike" Smothers, 60, of Union City passed away 9:27 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday at New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Brother Terry Council will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Friday.

Mike had been employed in construction and served in the United States Army military police.

He is survived by his father, James Vernon Smothers of Martin; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Andrew Chumley of Union City; one son, Michael Smothers of Union City; one sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Jason Becton of Union City; and two grandchildren, Mckinzie Weber and Xander Weber both of Union City.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Jones) Smothers.
