Mr. Michael Duane Layton, 69, of Hornbeak passed away 1:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020, at his home.

There will be no services. Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Michael was born February 20, 1951, in Terre Haute, Indiana, son of the late Dean Albert Layton and Lucy Marie (Cox) Layton of Terre Haute, Indiana. He married Karen (Sims) Layton September 23, 2016. She survives. He worked as a Plumber/Pipe Fitter for Local 157 and was a trucker for many years. He was also a lifelong member of the NRA and Owners-Operators Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA).

He is also survived by four daughters, Michaelle Layton of Terre Haute, Indiana, Angela Freeman (Roger) of Mattoon, Illinois, Tanya Ritz of Texas and Jeanine Eubanks (Dre) of Indiana; three sons, Michael Wilson (Karen) of Mattoon, Illinois, Brandon Harris (Sara) of Charleston, Illinois and Butch Ritz of Illinois; two brothers, Dennis Layton (Cindy) and Jerry Layton of West Terre Haute, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Jon Kirkley and Greg Wilson; two sisters, Cyndi Layton and Janet Gill; and one brother, James Layton.
