Mr. Maurice G. Shirkey, 89, of Troy passed away 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Ray Cagle will officiate. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery near Troy.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Jason Shirkey, Seth Payne, Noah Payne, Austin Pratt, Myles Pratt and Izick Pratt.

Mr. Shirkey was born September 21, 1930, in Henderson, Kentucky, son of the late Lawrence and Henrietta (Adams) Shirkey. He married Helen (Wilmurth) Roberson Shirkey May 31, 1998. She survives. Maurice served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired maintenance supervisor. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Union City.

He is also survived by five daughters, Kay Shirkey and Gail Galbraith both of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Rachel Smith (Gene) of Lenoir City, Roberta Cooper (John) of Rensselaer, Indiana and Colina Roberts of Muncks Corner, South Carolina; one son, Gary Shirkey (Julie) of Brandenburg, Kentucky; three stepdaughters, Margaret Miller (Skip) of Union City, Sandra Robinson (Lynn) of Troy and Suzie Jordan of Goshen, Indiana; two stepsons, Thomas Lloyd Roberson, Jr. (Sharron) of Troy and Steven Jordan of Rensselaer, Indiana; one brother, Melvin Shirkey (Martha) of Fairhope, Alabama; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Gerry Shirkey; one sister, Margie Trent; and two brothers, Joe Adams and Marvin "Jack" Shirkey.
