Mary Sue Jones, 69, of the Midway community near Union City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, December 31, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Mary Sue was born February 5, 1949 in Martin, Tennessee to the late Thomas Gilbert Earp and the late Mary Adelle (Carney) Earp. She married Danny Dale Jones on September 6, 1964.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Jones (Melissa) of Franklin, TN and Darrell Jones (Amy) of McKenzie, TN; four grandchildren, Marley Jones and Lila Jones both of Franklin, TN, Caitlin Byars (Kaleb) of Knoxville, TN, and Will Jones of McKenzie, TN; one brother, Jerry Earp (Ernestine) of Murfreesboro, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Danny, who just recently passed away on December 19, 2018; one brother, Thomas G. Earp, Jr.; and one sister, Peggy Howell.
Mary Sue had been a housewife for several years while raising their two sons, and she went to work at Martin Manufacturing in the mid-1970s. She loved to cut hair, and she eventually attended cosmetology school and became a hairdresser. She and Danny purchased a building on Jackson Street in Union City which was called Fashion World. She was a hairdresser for over 30 years and developed many close friendships with her customers.
In 2002, she began volunteering at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She loved helping others, and her home was always warm and welcoming to friends or family in need. One of her favorites things was spending time with her grandchildren.
At the age of 40, Mary Sue recommitted her life to Jesus Christ. This began a wonderful journey as she supported Danny while ministering at the former Faith Assembly Church in Union City where she played the piano. She also attended Manna Ministries in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the chapel of Edmaiston - Mosley Funeral Home. Her sons Dale Jones and Darrell Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Stanley Cemetery.
