Obituary

Mary Ann Beachum, 96, of Union City passed away 4:25 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at her home.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Union City. Brother George Hutchison will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Keith Ransom, Kevin Ransom, Dan Sinclair, Ronnie Craddock, Jamie Roach, Steve Beachum and Adam Cary.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Samburg Assembly of God, 253 North Reelfoot Ave., Hornbeak, Tn.  38232

Mary Ann was born August 5, 1925, in Obion County, daughter of the late Roy Elmer and Sally Ann (Goff) McMullen. She was the widow of J.V. Baker and William Cecil Beachum. Mary Ann had been employed at the former Salant & Salant, worked as a cook at the former Dixie School and Lake Road Elementary. After retirement from school she was employed at E.W. James & Sons in Union City for 10 years. Mary Ann was a charter member and the oldest member of Samburg Assembly of God where she had been a member for 70 years. She was a member of the Samburg Assembly of God senior citizens group, she had taught Sunday school for many years and was recognized by the youth group at the church with a plaque for her support of the youth program. Mary Ann was a member of the Crystal Family & Education Club for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Ransom (Larry) of Union City and Cecelia Eason of Knoxville; two sons, Jerry Lynn Beachum (Lisa) of Union City and Harold Glenn Beachum of LaVergne; four grandchildren, Keith Ransom (Julia) of Union City, Kevin Ransom (Kim) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Meagan Eason of Knoxville and Joshua Beachum of Union City; five great grandchildren, Jonathan Ransom of Knoxville, Rebecca Ransom of Union City, Jack Ransom of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Sarah Ransom and Cooper Ransom both of Charlotte, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Dorothy McMcMullen of Union City; her brother-in-law, Fred Ring of Westland, Michigan; and several niece and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul McMullen and Dale McMullen; and two sisters, Alice Mae Ring and Margaret Pearle Pinion.
