Obituary

Mrs. Mary Ann (Griffith) Alexander, 88, of Union City, passed away 4:16 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union City.

A celebration of life service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Perry Grills; nephew of Mrs. Mary Ann, and Rev. Mike Deal will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 1100, North Bethda, Maryland 20814 or the Obion County Public Library, 1221 East Reelfoot Avenue, Union City, Tennessee 38261.

Mrs. Alexander was born January 24, 1930, in Troy, to the late James Spurling Griffith and Maud Ann (Middleton) Griffith. She married Milton Alexander November 18, 1961. He preceded her in death January 7, 1999. Mrs. Alexander attended grammar school in Troy and graduated from Union City High School. After graduation she moved to Clarksville where she studied business at Austin Peay State University. She worked as a business representative for Southern Bell Telephone Company. During her 20 year tenure, she watched the company experience many changes, including three additional names. Mrs. Alexander was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne (Tommy) Harrington of Dyersburg, and Allyson (Steve) Lee of Union City; her wonderful, loving "other" daughter, Terry Tinkle Robinson of White House. She was Mimi to her five grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Harrington and Eric Henderson of South Fulton, Mindy (Matt) Chappell and Courtney (Chucky) Moran all of Union City, Macey (Brent) Johnson of Troy and Jonathan (Candi) Harrington of Dyersburg. Mimi's legacy will continue for generations as she was abundantly blessed with ten great grandchildren, Cade Harrington and fiance' Abbie Bingham of Lafayette, Louisiana; Caroline Harrington of Dyersburg; Haley Arthurs and Hannah Arthurs of Union City, Colton Johnson, Peyton Johnson and Stevie Jo Johnson all of Troy, and Landon Cranford, Ally Davidson and Aubrey Davidson all of Union City; her sister-in-law, Ish Griffith of Union City; five "Middleton: cousins who remain to cherish her memory, Charles Council, Charlotte Ann (Council) Howell, Kitty (Council) Hawkins, Bill Bailey and John Johns; along with several nieces, nephews and other cousins.

Friday afternoon, two precious grandaughters greeted her as she left this world and entered into heaven, Ami Ann Harringotn and Katie Harrington are now reunited with their MiMi as well as her three brothers, Waymon Griffith, Sherrill Griffith and Gaylon Griffith; and one sister, Evelyn (Griffith) Wiley.
