Mrs. Margaret Louise Morris, 101, of Union City went home to be with the Lord 5:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Northbrooke Healthcare & Rehab Center in Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Union City. Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery near Clinton, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of services Monday.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Michael Jordan, Wesley McClure, Thomas Watts, Kenneth Brooks and Kenneth Cheatham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby James, Wesley Thompson, Frankie Cheatham, Willis Easley and members of the Victory Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials take the form of donations to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 2250 East Reelfoot Avenue, Union City, Tennessee 38261.
Mrs. Morris was born December 26, 1915, in Oakton, Kentucky, daughter of the late Theodore and Myrtie Dale (Stroud) Kelly. Ms. Margaret was a 1932 graduate of the former Oakton High School where she was Valedictorian. She was the widow of Jesse Sam "Jack" Morris. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1982. Ms. Margaret was a homemaker and the oldest living member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City. She was a member of the Victory Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union and served as the church historian. Ms. Margaret founded the library at Calvary Baptist Church and it is named in her honor.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Billy Sewell of Thompson Station; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Nancy Morris of Three Way; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Morris "Pete" Kelly and William Eugene Kelly.
