Margaret Louise (Baker) Crowell, 80, of Rives passed away 12:41 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Russell Zik will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Paul Mathis, Brice Cook, Jayce Cook, Justin Forrester, Victor Tejeda, David Ursery, Christopher Brady and Jacob Crowell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Brady, Eddie Lee Brady and Brent Hailey.
Margaret was born January 10, 1943, in Martin, daughter of the late R.L. and Ora Lee (Greene) Baker. She married Charles Edward Crowell September 22, 1959. He preceded her in death November 11, 2020. Margaret and Charles had been the foster parents to 97 children thru the foster program. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by eight daughters, Karen Webster and Sharon "Sissy" Call both of Union City, Destinie Crowell of Rineyville, Kentucky, Sandra Mathis (Tommy) of Woodland Mills, Faye Crowell and Janet Hailey (Brent) all of Rives, Wendy Goheen (Kevin) of Benton, Kentucky and Mendy Crowell of Greenfield; one son, David Crowell of the Polk Station community; 16 grandchildren, LaShonda Cook (Chad), Tara Webster and Aubrey Jackson all of Martin; Christopher Brady (Bettye) and Eddie Brady all of Union City, Clarissa Tejeda (Victor) of Murray, Kentucky, Harley Forrester (Justin), Thomas Paul Mathis and Sara Mathis all of Woodland Mills, Allie Crowell Gill (Jaskarn) of Illinois, Jacob Crowell of the Polk Station community, Tanner Hailey, Ellie Hailey and Nathan Hailey all of Rives and Charlie Crowell and Eli Crowell both of Greenfield; 13 great grandchildren, Brice Cook and Jayce Cook both of Martin, Isabella Brady, Bryson Gray, Emmelie Brady, Parker Brady, Ian Ownsby, Brady Tejeda, Giovanni Tejeda and Ariya Brady all of Union City, Gabbi Forrester of Woodland Mills and Bahgail Gill and Davianna Gill both of Illinois; one sister, Hazel Ursery (J.C.) of Troy; and one brother, George Baker (Pat) of Jackson.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Erwin and Frances Diviney; and five brothers, Little Howard Baker, Russell Baker, Tommy Baker, L.T. Baker and Virgil Baker.
