Mr. Lyndell Eugene "Gabby" Gatlin, 77, of Obion died 4:00 a.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Charles Southerland, Brother Eddie Mallonee and Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Mr. Gatlin was born November 10, 1933, in Finley, Tennessee, son of the late R.B. "Buster" and Katie Mai (Atchison) Gatlin. He married the former Carolyn Pratt on April 29, 1956. She survives. Mr. Gatlin was a retired self employed star route carrier for the United States Postal Service and had been a carpet and tile layer. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is also survived by his son, David Gatlin of Obion; two granddaughters, Brandi Gatlin of Nashville and Candi Elkins of Union City; one grandson, Blake Owsley of Nashville and his sister, Joyce Gatlin of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Johnny Lynn Gatlin.
