Mr. Lloyd M. Dyer, 89, of Troy passed away 9:30 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Union City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Doug Morris and Brother Marvin Wilson will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Dyer was born June 7, 1928, in Hornbeak, son of the late Leonard and Lena (Darnell) Dyer. He married Ina B. Dyer June 17, 1951. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2008. Mr. Dyer retired July 1, 1968 from the United States Army after twenty years of service. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church near Troy and had been employed as a security guard at Kinkead in Union City and was a carpenter.
He is survived by four daughters, Ina Mae Frost of South Fulton, Anna Burkeen of Troy, Sylvia Dyer of Union City and Brenda Fulcher of Dadeville, Alabama; one son and daughter-in-law, Waymon and Gaynell Dyer of Rives; one sister, Myrtle Bradford of Winchester; one brother, Walter Dyer of Dyer; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Terry Burkeen; one great granddaughter, KayLynn Ranaie Taylor; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Huey and Erma Rogers; and one brother, James W. Dyer.
