L.J. Crawford 1940-2011
Mr. L.J. Crawford, 70, of Union City died 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Billy Crowell and Brother Marvin Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Republican Cemetery .
Mr. Crawford was born July 13, 1940, in Union City, son of Iona (Reedy) Parnell of Union City and the late Raymond Hardy Crawford, Sr. He had served in the United States Army for 14 years and in the Army National Guard for 11 years. He served in the Vietnam War and in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Mr. Crawford was a life member of Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City and a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Dresden. He was co owner of A Little Bit of Everything in Union City.
He is also survived by his wife of 19 1/2 years Judy (Wilson) Crawford of Union City; his daughter, Kathy Grim of Plato, Missouri; two sons and daughters-in-law; Timothy and Wilma Crawford of Plato, Missouri and Billy and Colvine Crowell of Union City; his brother, Raymond Crawford, Jr. of Rutherford; five grandchildren, Allison Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona, Scott Alan Grim, Jr. and Nancy Grim both of Plato, Missouri, and James Matthew Crowell and Sarah Crowell both of Union City; his great-granddaughter, Lilyann Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona; his cousin and his wife, Rob and Debbie Ring of Union City; one aunt; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Legans; and two great-grandchildren, Conner Grim and Shayla Nicole Grim.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Scott Grim, Jr., Timothy Crawford, Rob Ring, Jimmy Ring, Josh McGowan, Caleb McMillion, and Jimmy Roper.
